Oulston telephone box refurbishment...

When Peter Lockwood and his wife moved to Oulston nearly seven years ago, one of the first things Peter said was: I'm going to restore the telephone box.

At the time, the community phone box was looking a little tired and worn. Inspired by his passion for preserving this iconic British structure, Peter formulated a plan.

Unfortunately that plan got waylaid, not least because of covid, but eventually Peter got together a dedicated group of volunteers from the village, comprising himself, Richard Upton, Matthew Torrens-Burton, David Pontefract, Stacey Short and Pam Clarke.

After hours of research into the restoration process and materials needed for the job, the team got down to business.

Over a period of 18 months, they have completed a full restoration on the telephone box so it can be used and enjoyed for many more years.
